1Now the feast of Unleavened Bread, called Passover, was drawing near.

2And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to kill Him, for they feared the people.

3Then Satan entered Judas, who was called Iscariot and was one of the number of the Twelve.

4He went away and spoke with the chief priests and the captains about how he might hand Him over to them.

5And they rejoiced and agreed to give him money.

6He consented, and sought an opportunity to hand Him over to them apart from a crowd.

7Then the day of Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover sacrifice had to be slaughtered.

8And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat.”

9They said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare it?”

10He said to them, “Behold, as you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house he enters.

11And you shall say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the lodging room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’

12And he will show you a large upper room spread with furnishings. Prepare it there.”

13They went and found things just as He had told them, and they prepared the Passover.

14When the hour came, He reclined at table, and the apostles with Him.

15And He said to them, “With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

16For I tell you that I will certainly not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”

17And He received a cup, gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves.

18For I tell you, from now on I will certainly not drink from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19And He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body [which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

20And likewise the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, poured out for you.]

21But behold, the hand of the one who hands Me over is with Me on the table.

22For the Son of Man indeed goes according to what has been determined, but woe to that man through whom He is handed over!”

23And they began to discuss among themselves which of them it could be who was about to do this.

24A dispute also arose among them about which of them was considered to be greatest.

25But He said to them, “The kings of the nations lord it over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called benefactors.

26But you are not to be so. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as the one who serves.

27For who is greater, the one reclining at table or the one serving? Is it not the one reclining? But I am among you as the One who serves.

28And you are those who have remained with Me in My trials.

29And I assign to you a kingdom, just as My Father assigned one to Me,

30so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

31Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you all, to sift you like wheat.

32But I prayed for you, that your faith might not fail; and you, once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

33He said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death.”

34But He said, “I tell you, Peter, a rooster will not crow today until you deny three times that you know Me.”

35And He said to them, “When I sent you without purse and bag and sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

36And He said to them, “But now let the one who has a purse take it, and likewise a bag; and let the one who does not have sell his garment and buy a sword.

37For I tell you that this which is written must be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was counted with the lawless.’ For what concerns Me is reaching its completion.”

38They said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”

39And He went out and traveled, as was His custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.

40When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into testing.”

41And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed,

42saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me. Nevertheless, let not My will but Yours be done.”

43And an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.

44And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat became like clots of blood falling to the ground.

45Rising from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from grief.

46And He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray, so that you may not enter into testing.”

47While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the Twelve, was going before them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss Him.

48But Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you hand over the Son of Man with a kiss?”

49When those around Him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with a sword?”

50And one of them struck the high priest’s slave and took off his right ear.

51But Jesus answered, “Allow this much.” And He touched the ear and healed him.

52And Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders who had come against Him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?

53When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not stretch out your hands against Me. But this is your hour and the authority of darkness.”

54They seized Him and led Him away and brought Him into the high priest’s house. But Peter was following at a distance.

55When they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them.

56A certain servant girl saw him sitting by the light and, looking intently at him, said, “This man also was with Him.”

57But he denied it, saying, “I do not know Him, woman.”

58After a short time another saw him and said, “You too are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.”

59After about one hour had passed, someone else insisted, saying, “Truly, this man also was with Him, for he too is a Galilean.”

60But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are saying.” And at once, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.

61And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the Lord’s word, how He had said to him, “Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.”

62And he went outside and wept bitterly.

63Now the men who were holding Him mocked Him and beat Him.

64They blindfolded Him and questioned Him, saying, “Prophesy! Who is it that struck You?”

65And they spoke many other things against Him, blaspheming.

66When day came, the council of elders of the people gathered, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him into their council,

67saying, “If You are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I tell you, you will certainly not believe.

68And if I ask, you will certainly not answer.

69But from now on the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”

70They all said, “Then are You the Son of God?” And He said to them, “You say that I am.”

71They said, “What further need do we have of testimony? For we ourselves have heard from His own mouth.”
