1After the plague, the Lord spoke to Moses and Eleazar the priest:
2Take a total of the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by their ancestral houses, everyone who goes out to line up for battle in Israel.
3Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke in Araboth of Moab beside the Jordan opposite Jericho, saying:
4From twenty years old and upward, as the Lord commanded Moses. These are the sons of Israel who came out of Egypt:
5Reuben was Israel's firstborn. The sons of Reuben: Hanoch and the clan of Hanoch; from Pallu, the clan of Pallu;
6from Hezron, the clan of Hezron; from Carmi, the clan of Carmi.
7These were Reuben's clans. Their registration numbered forty-three thousand seven hundred thirty.
8The sons of Pallu: Eliab.
9The sons of Eliab were Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. These were summoned members of the congregation, those who rose against Moses and Aaron in Korah's congregation in the uprising against the Lord.
10The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and Korah when his congregation died, when the fire consumed the two hundred fifty; they became a sign.
11But Korah's sons did not die.
12The sons of Simeon, the clan of the sons of Simeon: from Nemuel, the clan of Nemuel; from Jamin, the clan of Jamin; from Jachin, the clan of Jachin;
13from Zerah, the clan of Zerah; from Shaul, the clan of Shaul.
14These were Simeon's clans according to their registration: twenty-two thousand two hundred.

17The sons of Perez: from Hezron, the clan of Hezron; from Iamun, the clan of Iamun.
18These were Judah's clans according to their registration: seventy-six thousand five hundred.
19The sons of Issachar by their clans: from Tola, the clan of Tola; from Puah, the clan of Puah;
20from Jashub, the clan of Jashub; from Shimron, the clan of Shimron.
21These were Issachar's clans according to their registration: sixty-four thousand three hundred.
22The sons of Zebulun by their clans: from Sered, the clan of Sered; from Allon, the clan of Allon; from Allel, the clan of Allel.
23These were Zebulun's clans according to their registration: sixty thousand five hundred.
24The sons of Gad by their clans: from Zephon, the clan of Zephon; from Haggi, the clan of Haggi; from Shuni, the clan of Shuni;
25from Ozni, the clan of Ozni; from Addi, the clan of Addi;
26from Arod, the clan of Arod; from Ariel, the clan of Ariel.
27These were the clans of the sons of Gad according to their registration: forty thousand five hundred.
28The sons of Asher by their clans: from Jamin, the clan of Jamin; from Ishvi, the clan of Ishvi; from Beriah, the clan of Beriah.
29from Heber, the clan of Heber; from Malchiel, the clan of Malchiel.
30The name of Asher's daughter was Sarah.
31These were Asher's clans according to their registration: fifty-three thousand four hundred.
32The sons of Joseph by their clans were Manasseh and Ephraim.
33The sons of Manasseh: from Machir, the clan of Machir. Machir begat Gilead; from Gilead, the clan of Gilead.
34These were the sons of Gilead: from Ahiezer, the clan of Ahiezer; from Helek, the clan of Helek;
35from Esriel, the clan of Esriel; from Shechem, the clan of Shechem;
36from Symaer, the clan of Symaer; from Hepher, the clan of Hepher.
37Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, only daughters. These were the names of Zelophehad's daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
38These were Manasseh's clans according to their registration: fifty-two thousand seven hundred.
39These were the sons of Ephraim: from Shuthelah, the clan of Shuthelah; from Tanach, the clan of Tanach.
40These were the sons of Shuthelah: from Eden, the clan of Eden.
41These were Ephraim's clans according to their registration: thirty-two thousand five hundred. These were the clans of the sons of Joseph by their clans.
42The sons of Benjamin by their clans: from Bela, the clan of Bela; from Asyber, the clan of Asyber; from Iachiran, the clan of Iachiran;
43from Sophan, the clan of Sophan.
44The sons of Bela were Adar and Naaman: from Adar, the clan of Adar; from Naaman, the clan of Naaman.
45These were the sons of Benjamin by their clans according to their registration: forty-five thousand six hundred.
46The sons of Dan by their clans: from Sami, the clan of Sami. These were Dan's clans by their families.
47All the clans of Sami according to their registration numbered sixty-four thousand four hundred.
48The sons of Naphtali by their clans: from Asiel, the clan of Asiel; from Guni, the clan of Guni;
49from Jezer, the clan of Jezer; from Shillem, the clan of Shillem.
50These were Naphtali's clans according to their registration: forty-five thousand four hundred.
51The registration of the sons of Israel numbered six hundred one thousand seven hundred thirty.
52The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
53The land shall be divided among these for inheritance according to the number of names.
54To the more numerous you shall increase the inheritance, and to the fewer you shall reduce their inheritance. Each shall receive its inheritance according to their registration.
55The land shall be divided by lots. They shall inherit according to the names of their ancestral tribes.
56You shall divide their inheritance by the lot between the more numerous and the fewer.
57The sons of Levi by their clans: from Gershon, the clan of Gershon; from Kohath, the clan of Kohath; from Merari, the clan of Merari.
58These were the clans of the sons of Levi: the clan of Libni, the clan of Hebron, the clan of Korah, and the clan of Mushi. Kohath begat Amram.
59His wife was named Jochebed, a daughter of Levi, who bore these to Levi in Egypt. She bore Aaron, Moses, and their sister Miriam to Amram.
60To Aaron were born Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
61Nadab and Abihu died when they offered alien fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sinai.
62Those registered numbered twenty-three thousand, every male from one month old and upward. They were not registered together with the sons of Israel, because no allotment was given to them among the sons of Israel.
63This was the registration by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who registered the sons of Israel in Araboth of Moab beside the Jordan opposite Jericho.
64Among these there was no man from those registered by Moses and Aaron, when they registered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.
65For the Lord had said of them: They shall certainly die in the wilderness. Not one of them remained except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
