1And on the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

2Jesus and His disciples were also invited to the wedding.

3When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

4And Jesus said to her, “What is this to Me and to you, woman? My hour has not yet come.”

5His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He tells you, do.”

6Now six stone water jars were set there for the purification of the Jews, each holding two or three metretes.

7Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them to the top.

8And He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.

9When the master of the feast tasted the water that had become wine and did not know where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew—the master of the feast called the bridegroom

10and said to him, “Everyone sets out the good wine first, and when people have become drunk, the inferior wine. You have kept the good wine until now.”

11Jesus did this as the beginning of His signs in Cana of Galilee and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

12After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and the brothers and His disciples, and they stayed there not many days.

13Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14And He found in the temple those selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers seated there.

15Making a whip from cords, He drove them all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the money changers’ coins and overturned their tables.

16And He said to those selling the doves, “Take these things away from here. Do not make My Father’s house a house of trade.”

17His disciples remembered that it is written, “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.”

18So the Jews answered Him, “What sign do You show us, since You do these things?”

19Jesus answered them, “Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it.”

20So the Jews said, “This sanctuary was built in forty-six years, and will You raise it in three days?”

21But He was speaking about the sanctuary of His body.

22When, therefore, He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word Jesus had spoken.

23While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name, seeing the signs He was doing.

24But Jesus Himself did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew everyone

25and because He had no need for anyone to testify concerning humanity, for He Himself knew what was within a person.
